Tiruppur: A man wanted by the municipal police in connection with the murder of a teenager with 2 sons in Tirupur was found dead today in a well without water.
Boomari (35) and her sons Tarnish (9) and Nitish (4) from Thiruvarur district have been living with their family in a rented house for the past one month at Sadarpalayam Mettu Estate near Tirupur. Boomari worked as a laborer for a private company in the area. In this situation, Boomari was living apart from her husband. A person from Tirupur was staying at his house.
In this case, the house of Boomari did not open for a long time on the morning of the 22nd. Thus the neighbors called him. The suspected landlord informed the Thirumuruganpoondi police. When the police visited the spot, the bodies of Boomari and her 2 sons were recovered after they were beaten to death. No information was available about the mysterious person who stayed with the house.
On the orders of the Municipal Commissioner of Police AG Babu, 12 special teams were formed to search for the culprit. The victim was identified as Karthi Gopal, 50, of Porbandar, Gujarat. Thus the police were engaged in surveillance work in various areas such as the railway station and the bus station. Gopal did not talk to anyone much, did not use the mobile phone in his hand, did not use Boomari’s mobile phone and got around the bicycle causing great inconvenience to the police.
Meanwhile, the Kangayam police received information that a man with a bicycle was lying dead in a waterless well at the Tulsi garden in Nallipalayam near Kangayam Padiyur. Police rushed to the spot and seized the body. Police led by Metropolitan Police Commissioner AG Babu visited the spot. It was revealed that the person who killed Boomari and her 2 children. The body, which was found in a decomposing state with a hat on its head and a face shield, was recovered by the Kangayam Fire Brigade. Following this, the Kangayam police seized the body and sent it to the Tirupur Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Police seized a mobile phone, a torch light, a bicycle and a water bottle inside the well. A preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Gopal may have committed suicide by consuming poison out of fear.
The man who killed the three in an altercation on the night of the 22nd has escaped by bicycle from there. His image was recorded on a CCTV camera at 2 places in Padiyur. After the murder, the phone did not turn on. Upon learning of the police search in this case, they said he may have committed suicide by falling into a well a week ago.
Tirupur Municipal Commissioner of Police AG Babu said, “The killer had already murdered a married woman in Perundurai in 2013 and had served 7 years in prison. He was then released from prison in 2020 and has been working in places where no documents have been issued to anyone. The first woman said she was killed because she was talking to friends on the phone. The motive for the murder is not known. Gopal (A) Karthik has been living in Tiruppur from Gujarat for more than 20 years, ”said the Commissioner of Police.
