A 30-year-old man was indicted Tuesday evening for “murder” after the shooting death Sunday at dawn in a nightclub near Angers of another man, announced Tuesday evening the public prosecutor. “The prosecution has opened an investigation of the head of the assassination (…). The examining magistrate chose to indict him on the count of murder by a person acting in a state of manifest intoxication, ”said the prosecutor of Angers, Éric Bouillard, in a press release. The suspect was remanded in custody “pending further investigations”.
The respondent and the victim, aged 36, arrived together between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning at this nightclub located in Saint-Martin-du-Fouilloux, near Angers. “The shooter was carrying a handgun which he cocked and pointed a few minutes later at another man with whom he was having an altercation. In circumstances that remain to be clarified, the shot went off, fatally hitting the person who accompanied the respondent in the head, ”according to the press release from the prosecutor.
“While in police custody, the suspected man acknowledged the materiality of the facts, indicating however that the friend who accompanied him was not targeted and that the shot had hit him during the brawl”, a- we said from the same source. Sunday late afternoon, the suspect had called the police who then went to arrest him, said Mr. Bouillard.
