Pakistani police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of an 18-year-old Hindu woman in Pakistan’s Sindh province.

The killer and two of his accomplices enter the house of a Hindu woman and force her to marry him. He was shot for refusing. The slain Hindu woman has been identified as Pooja Kumari.

This is not an isolated incident in Pakistan. Human rights activists say hundreds of Christians and Hindus are forced to convert to Islam each year.

Women from minority communities continue to be abducted and forcibly converted. And have long faced problems such as marriage and conversion.

Rights groups have accused the Pakistani government of failing to take necessary action in response to rising crimes against Hindus and other minorities.

Statistics show that the total population of the Hindu community in Pakistan is 1.60 per cent and in Sindh it is 6.51 per cent.
