The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) managed to get the Santiago Texacuangos Justice of the Peace Court to order provisional detention for Héctor Alberto López Guerrero, who is being prosecuted for driving a vehicle while apparently intoxicated, causing an accident, killing two minors and injuring an adult. In addition, the process moved to the investigation stage, the Attorney General’s Office said.
The events occurred in the early hours of August 4, at kilometer 19 and a half of the Comalapa Highway, in the direction that leads to San Salvador. The victims were inside a vehicle parked in the auxiliary lane due to the rain and with the flashing lights on as a precautionary measure, when they were hit by the defendant’s car.
As a result, a minor died on the spot and the other died while being taken to a hospital; the driver of the parked vehicle was also hit, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said.
The FGR attributes to him the crimes of dangerous driving of motor vehicles, negligent homicide (2) and negligent injuries, facts for which the Court decreed his provisional detention and the process moves to the investigation stage.
