The campaign “Manage my real estate” of 2024 is open until May 30. And those who go much better than the inaugural edition. While in 2023, only 83% of the premises have been declared accepted by the General Council of Public Finances (DGFiP), this rate has risen to 89%.

Some 4.8 million areas were announced during this campaign, even in the last few weeks since June 11, there were only 2.7 million. “Among them, there are owners who did not declare last year, others who have moved and finally some have updated the residence of their area”, explained the tax authorities.

By 2023, the technical hiccups on the platform have increased

In 2023, the first campaign “Manage my real estate” is more than slow: the technical hiccups on the platform have increased, the French have many questions about this new process, when some taxpayers, especially the elderly , is confused by the absence of a paper form. The deadline of June 30 had to be postponed several times until August 10.

This year, DGFiP has put everything in place to avoid such an irregularity: emails or letters are sent to owners who have not fulfilled their obligations in 2023, clear alerts have been placed in income declaration process and a paper form is done. available for taxpayers who do not have access to the Internet or who are not comfortable with online procedures. And despite everything, 8 million households, or 11% of the 73 million recorded in the region, have not yet been declared.

And the owner is subject to a sanction. The general tax code provides for “a fine of 150 euros for the area in which the requested information has not been communicated to the administration”. “The same fine is due in the event of a deficiency or inaccuracy,” the statement continued.

“For this time, we are still learning”

The punishment of the tax authorities has decided not to take place in 2023. And this will also be the case this year. “For the moment, we are still in the educational process,” told us DGFiP, which is expected to further reduce the share of 11% of undeclared areas. We show compassion to the owners in good faith. But we do not allow ourselves to apply the fine on an individual basis. »

It’s never too late to make or update your “Manage my real estate” announcement. Because if the deadline of June 30 is in place to develop the correct local tax notices in the fall – by ensuring the benefit of the house tax exemption on the first residence and by saving the tax for the second houses and empty areas – the platform is accessible. all year round. Note to latecomers.
