Mananjary: supporters of Siteny manhandled by the forces of (…)

The pre-campaign is in full swing for the future presidential candidates of 2023, but the power is increasing the pressure on the opposition. After Marc Ravalomanana’s TIM in Itaosy last week, it’s Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko’s turn to suffer intimidation from the police. In Mananjary, as part of his national tour, the deputy from Madagascar elected in Toliara was initially banned from his political meeting.

Initially planned to be held next to the main treasury of Mananjary, the meeting was moved to a private domain belonging to the deputy elected to Mananjary, Mamy Haja, a close friend of Siteny. The crowd dressed in yellow t-shirts, distributed by the future candidate for the occasion, however massed and ended up dissuading the soldiers. During this trip, several deputies who support the candidacy of the deputy of Toliara, were present.

The day before the meeting, Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko with the deputies Voninahitsy Jean Eugène and Jean Jacques Rabeniriana would have been banned from flying at the international airport of Ivato, following the non-issuance of authorization for their flight by the Civil Aviation of Madagascar ( ACM) but curiously they were able to go there despite this ban. What is certain is that the deputy for Toliara has enormous means to finance his electoral campaign. Travel by helicopter, distribution of t-shirts, meals offered to the population during the meeting in Mananjary…and all this before the real electoral campaign. He even offered himself the services of foreign bodyguards for his personal protection. Observers, however, are wondering about the origin of all this money.

Friday morning, the political parties, in particular the TIM of Marc Ravalomanana had asked the government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to put an end to the repressions and prohibitions against the opposition during the political dialogue which brought together all actors in the electoral process. The CENI, sensitive to this request, had asked the authorities to act in this direction, but the very next day the situation was different in Mananjary. In Antananarivo, in the 6th arrondissement, the TIM was however able to reunite its supporters without any problem or clash with the police.
