The record holder of English titles, “Manchester United”, officially announced that the 39-year-old Portuguese Ruben Amorim succeeds the fired Dutchman Erik Ten Haag as manager.
For this purpose, the “red devils” pay “Sporting” (Lisbon) a buyout clause of 10 million euros.
Amorim will start work at Old Trafford on November 11 after completing his commitments in the Portuguese capital.
His contract with “United” runs until June 2027 with an option to extend it by another 1 year.
“Ruben Amorim is one of the most interesting and highly regarded young coaches in European football. He has achieved success as both a player and a coach, his trophies include winning the Portuguese title twice with Sporting, the first of which was the club’s first for 19 years,” United wrote.
Interestingly, a transfer fee is being paid for Amorim for the second time. To get him from “Braga”, “Sporting” also takes out 10 million euros in 2020
