Mangaluru: It is recommended to hand over the cooker bomb blast in an autorickshaw in Mangalore Naguri to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Karnataka government has sent a letter to the Union Home Ministry in this regard. Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra had earlier informed that NIA has been asked to take up further investigation. The NIA had started to interrogate the accused in the Coimbatore car blast case in connection with the Mangaluru blast case.

An autorickshaw that was running in Kankanadi caught fire and exploded on Saturday evening. Mohammad Shariq (29), a native of Shivamogga, was arrested for planning the blast. Autorickshaw driver Purushotta and Sharik were seriously injured in the blast. Both are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Shariq, who was arrested in the UAPA case in 2020, was out on bail and living in Mysuru at a fake address. The police have also confirmed that the suspect has close ties with various terrorist groups.
