Convicted Killer Spotted Twice in Pennsylvania Prison Escape Manhunt

The search for convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante, who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison on August 31, is intensifying as the manhunt enters its 11th day. Cavalcante has been spotted two times within the targeted search area, according to Pennsylvania State Police Trooper James Grothey.

Nearly 400 officers have joined the 24-hour search operation for Cavalcante, who escaped from Chester County Prison by maneuvering between two walls, scaling a fence, and crawling through razor wire. Since his escape, there have been “eight or nine” credible sightings of the fugitive, according to Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens.

The escape of Cavalcante, who was convicted of first-degree murder for killing his former girlfriend, 33-year-old Deborah Brandão, has instilled fear among residents and the victim’s family. Ryan Drummond, a local resident, described the “acute moment of terror” when he discovered Cavalcante in his home.

Cavalcante is also wanted in connection with a 2017 homicide case in Brazil, his native country. Prior to the recent sightings, he was seen multiple times near Longwood Gardens, located approximately 3 miles from the prison. The botanical gardens closed temporarily as police searched for the fugitive but were unable to apprehend him.

Despite Cavalcante’s elusive nature, Lt. Col. Bivens expressed confidence in the ongoing search efforts. He stated that a large perimeter has been established and is being meticulously combed by tactical teams.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Cavalcante is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone who sees him should not approach but instead contact law enforcement immediately.
