Ponniyan Selvan is the Manirthanam film that the South Indian film world is eagerly waiting for. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s famous novel Ponniyan Selvam, the film is coming in two parts.
Aishwarya Rai is playing the lead role in the movie and it has a huge cast. Actor Jayaram plays an important role. Azhwarkadian plays the role of Nambi Nambi. Jayaram’s look was much noticed. He gained weight for the character. Ponniyan gained weight for Selvam at a time when her lean makeover was a big talk.
Now Jayaram is sharing an interesting incident related to this. This was said at the audio launch of the film. Jayaram says that director Mani Ratnam did not look at his face for a year and a half

Mani Ratnam sir does things with hundred percent precision. Stay with it until you see results. When I was approached for the film, the first thing they asked for was wire. I was thin at the time. Jairam is still four months away from shooting. Mani Ratnam sir said that it should be fixed before that. The stomach was raised with great difficulty. The shooting was about a year and a half. He did not look at my face for that year and a half. Instead he would come every morning to see if my stomach was different. He really looked at my face after the shoot.
Even after the shooting of the film, Karthi and Jayamravi used to exercise. Even after shooting for 12 or 13 hours, they had to exercise. But he fed me only. Because I want a wire and they don’t want a wire,” Jairam added.
The first part of Ponniyan Selvam will hit the screens on September 30, 2022. Along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayamravi, Karthi, Rahman, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Parthipan, Babu Antony, Ashwin Kakumanu, Riyaz Khan, Trisha, Sobhita Dulipala and Jayachitra are starting the lineup.
