French Adrien Mannarino, 46th player in the world, was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Queen’s ATP 500 tournament by Australian Alex de Minaur 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on Friday.

After his success against a new Top 10 the day before, Adrian Mannarinos hung on as much as he could, against the 18th in the world and seeded number 7, but he almost never had the upper hand in the meeting. Broken in the 5th game of the first set, it only took one set point for the Australian to take the lead (6-4) in 44 minutes.

De Minaur once again stole the 34-year-old’s serve from the third game of the second set, but the Frenchman immediately reacted to recover at 2-2 and raise his level. At 5-4 in his favour, he again made the opposing commitment and thus stuck to one set everywhere.

The last set was just as hesitant. The winner of the 2019 ‘s-Hertogenbosch grass tournament found himself with a late break from the first game, before finding the resources to equalize at 4-4. But de Minaur again took the lead to serve for the match at 5-4 in his favor and conclude on his first match point.
