Actor Manohar, brother of DMK state council member NR Ilango, is also a Tamil film director, writer and actor. He made his debut as a writer in 1994 with the film Maintan. He then worked as an actor and assistant director in the 1995 film Kolangal.

He later made his directorial debut in 2009 with Nakul starrer Masilamani and Vellore District. He has also recently starred in leading actors’ films including Mruthan, Prisoner and Teddy.

Meanwhile, his son Ranjan had been studying at PSBB School since 2012. His son Ranjan drowned while training in a swimming pool at the school. The negligence of the swimming coach was said to be the reason for Ranjan’s drowning. It is noteworthy that the police later took action against the swimming coach.

Manokaran, who was deeply saddened by this, abandoned the movement and started acting in small roles in films. The 61-year-old died of a heart attack in Chennai today.
