Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) is negotiating with partners to produce cars under the Volga brand. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
He noted that they plan to start production in 2024 with the support of a new technology partner, which can take over the vacant capacity after the departure of Volkswagen. The company is negotiating with potential investors.
“Colleagues say that mastering a new model takes about 8-9 months. But we take some additional reserve period of time: in the near future it is planned to decide on a partner. Take a year, let’s say. By next summer, I think, clarified Manturov (quote from RIA Novosti).
On plans to revive the Volga and Pobeda car brands Manturov told in the summer of 2022. Then he said that the project could take place in Nizhny Novgorod and other regions.
