As Cyclone ‘Mantus’ over South West Bay of Bengal has weakened to a depression, heavy to very heavy rain is expected at one or two places in Ranipet, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts and heavy rain at one or two places in Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Erode and Nilgiri districts. Research center said.
In this regard, the Meteorological Department has stated in a statement that:-
Yesterday (09.12.2022) Cyclone ‘Mantus’, which was present in South-West Bay of Bengal, crossed the coast near Mamallapuram last night and weakened into a deep depression this morning (10.12.2022) and prevailed in northern Tamil Nadu.
Due to this, 10.12.2022: Light to moderate rain may occur at many places over Tamilnadu, Puduwai and Karaikal. Iranipet, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts will receive heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places and Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Erode and Nilgiris will receive heavy rain at one or two places.
11.12.2022: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at many places over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal. Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul and Tenkasi districts received heavy rain at one or two places.
12.12.2022 and 13.12.2022: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at many places over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal.
14.12.2022: Light to moderate rain at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal.

10.12.2022 : Occasional strong land wind with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour may occur over North Tamizhak, Puduwai and Karaikal.

Warning to Fishermen:
10.12.2022: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 50 to 60 kmph and occasional speed of 70 kmph may occur over North Tamil Nadu, Puduwai coastal areas and adjoining South West Bay of Bengal, South Andhra coastal areas and adjoining Central West Bay of Bengal.
12.12.2022 and 13.12.2022: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and intermittent speed of 55 kmph are likely over Lakshadweep areas, Kerala – Karnataka coastal areas and adjoining South East and Middle East Arabian Sea areas.
14.12.2022: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional speed of 55 kmph may occur over Southeast and adjoining Middle East Arabian Sea.
Fishermen are advised not to go to these areas on the above days.
