In a statement issued this Tuesday, Seixal City Council, which organizes the festival, insists that “the arts, especially music, play a fundamental role in enriching and mobilizing citizens and in the pursuit of ideals that lead to better societies supportive, more developed. and fairer”.

Under this slogan, and “following the heritage of resistance and struggle that is the hallmark of the people and the history of the municipality”, the 5th edition of the May Festival will take place on the 19th and 20th of July at Seixal Urban Park. .
On the first day, July 19, Manu Chao, “the voice of all those who have no voice”, presents a completely acoustic show, in which he “promises to revisit the greatest hits from his career long life and present new songs”.
Eskorzo, “a legendary band from Granada, which created a unique sound based on styles as diverse as rock, ska, reggae, funk, and African and Latin rhythms”, is expected to take advantage of the concert to to present their eighth live album,” Historias de amor y otras mierdas”, released last year and in which “they continue to test and renew their sound and write openly about social and political issues”.
On the second day, Marcelo D2 takes his “interventionist lyrics that address issues such as social discrimination, freedom of speech or police repression” to the May Festival, and Eu.Clides will show why it is “one of the most revealing more of current Portuguese music”.
On the two days of the festival, between performances, video poems recorded by artists from different fields, such as singers, actors and writers, will be shown.
