Captain Alvaro Bravo Castillo stated that “at night, a person who is an oncologist appears at the emergency room and states that, While he was at home checking his social networks, he noticed that he was a fugitive from justice.”

“Upon attending this police unit and meeting with Carabineros personnel, the institutional systems were reviewed, verifying that He had a valid warrant for sexual abuse from the Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago, and his arrest was immediately carried out.”the uniformed officer said.

Regarding the fate of Manuel Álvarez, the captain of Carabineros explained that “the corresponding procedures were carried out with the court, which instructed that he should immediately be placed at the disposal of the Gendarmerie at night.”

For his part, defense attorney César Ramos ruled out that the doctor was a fugitive, stating that “Mr. Álvarez was at a home he has in a nearby field, whose location was also duly reported to the court, awaiting the report from the Gendarmerie and the court’s decision.”

“He has never been a fugitive. He has informed the courts of every place he has been and has even dropped a pending appeal that would have further delayed the execution of the sentence,” stressed Manuel Álvarez’s lawyer.
