jpnn.comSURABAYA – The Governor and Deputy Governor of East Java for the 2019-2024 period Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Emil Elistianto Dardak still receive a high approval rating from the public. This strengthens their position ahead of the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election.
Executive Director of Indonesian Political Parameters (PPI) Adi Prayitno said, any candidate if it has incumbent status and has a high approval rating will be difficult to beat in the next election. This condition is currently happening to Khofifah-Emil in the upcoming East Java gubernatorial election.
“In political strategy, if the incumbent’s approval rating is high, Khofifah and Emil are generally quite difficult to defeat,” said Adi in his press release, Monday (5/8).
According to Adi, it is very reasonable for Khofifah and Emil to reaffirm their achievements during their leadership of East Java for the past five years. Therefore, it is to restore the public’s memory of their achievements in developing East Java.
Achievements such as reducing the extreme poverty rate in East Java, from the previous 4.4 percent to 0.82 percent, are some of the evidence of Khofifah-Emil’s success in leading.
Adi considered it reasonable for Khofifah-Emil to include this in their campaign later.
“So it is natural that Khofifah-Emil are campaigning for success stories, what they have done related to economic, political, social and cultural development in East Java,” he said.
In the latest Kompas Research and Development survey for the period 20-25 June 2024, the electability of Khofifah and Emil was very high. Khofifah herself had an electability rate of 78.4 percent, consisting of 31.6 percent definitely voting and 46.8 percent considering voting for her.
