Many French people have received this fake SMS recently.

“The last payment was rejected, please confirm your information before suspending your account.” Recently, many French people have received this SMS. Your background? Netflix. At least, that’s what the capital letters at the beginning of the text indicate. The message warns of the upcoming end to your subscription to the streaming platform because the monthly payment has not been paid to the American company.

To overcome this problem, a link has even been inserted so that you can easily settle your debt. Clicking on it opens a carbon copy of the Netflix home page. You are then asked to enter your email address and password to access the account and pay your fees.

But be careful, you should definitely not do this. Do not click a link or enter your credentials. Everything is absolutely false. Like many other SMS messages of the same type, this is a scam. To flow smoothly, two elements must be controlled: the sender and, above all, the link added to the message. Here, it is clear that it is not the official site of the platform but a pirate site with a name that has nothing to do with the giant of movies and series.

Netflix indicates that if SMS or emails must be sent to customers, these are accurate information, do not contain any links and do not, under any circumstances, ask for personal information, either about your identity or means your payment. It is therefore necessary to delete any message that contains this type of element. If a problem needs to be solved with the platform, this will be done only through the customer account, directly on the official website. If in doubt when receiving an SMS, you should contact the personal site or write to Netflix support.

For some recipients of this fraudulent message, however, there is no need to worry. In fact, the criminals have not completed their scam to the point of sending SMS only to the customers of the streaming site. Therefore, people who do not have an account with the American giant also receive this false reminder. What they want to do is to sow doubt among some people who do not remember who has the account.
