Legendary cricketers selected next generation superstars from IPL. They selected the next generation stars in the panel discussion of Jio Cinema, which broadcasts IPL.
Indian legend Anil Kumble, former Indian players Akash Chopra, Parthiv Patel, Robin Uthappa, New Zealand legend Scott Styris and West Indies legend Chris Gayle were present in the panel discussion called Legends Lounge.
Kumble said that he sees Punjab Kings’ young player Arshdeep Singh as the next generation Super Bowler. Kumble has been instrumental in Arshdeep’s growth and witnessed that growth firsthand.
When it comes to batting, Kumble chooses Ishan Kishan. Kumble selected Ishan citing the recent double century scored by Ishan Kishan.
Chris Gayle had the same people to choose from. Gayle described Ishan Kishan as the future of India.
Parthiv Patel also had to say that Arshdeep was among the bowlers. But when Akash Chopra pointed out that two people had already mentioned Arshdeep, Parthiv Patel chose Umran Malik. Coming to bat, Parthiv chose Mumbai Indians’ young player Tilak Verma.
Robin Uthappak, who was in the panel discussion, also mentioned Arshdeep’s name. Along with this, Uthappa also said about Mohsin Khan. Uthappa pointed out that he played against Mohsin Khan at the domestic level and the player was bowling in a good manner. He added that the power of every delivery he knows is immense even if there is very little run up.
Uthappa also had to say the name of Tilak Verma about the next generation of batters. Uthappa also said that Tilak Verma’s performance was good even when Mumbai was going through a very miserable situation last season.
Not a single person on the panel could point out many players including Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill who played the best last season.
Sanju Samson was one of only two Indian players with a strike rate of 150+ last season. They also forgot Gill who scored a double century this year. Gill’s achievement surpassed Ishan Kishan’s record as the youngest player to score a double century. Gill’s achievement was missed by everyone who mentioned Ishan’s double century.
