In connection with the significantly increased crossings through the Kulata border crossing point and the Makaza border crossing point and the large number of Romanian tourists traveling to and from Greece, DG Border Police recommends the use of alternative checkpoints on the Bulgarian-Greek border, which are less busy and allow faster passage.
Tourists traveling to resorts in the area of Thessaloniki, Kavala and the Halkidiki Peninsula can pass through the Ilinden border crossing as an alternative to the Kulata border crossing. Tourists traveling to resorts in the area of Xanthi, Komotini and o. Thassos, can use the Zlatograd border crossing as an alternative to the Makaza border crossing. For resorts in the region of Alexandropoulis, it is recommended to go through the Kapitan Petko voivoda border crossing.
Only cars and minibuses are allowed to pass through the Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad border crossing points.
On the border with Greece, traffic is normal at all border checkpoints, the “Border Police” reports. There are no queues of waiting cars at the Kulata border crossing.
