New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday appealed to Naxalites to give up violence and surrender by laying down arms and warned that if they did not do so, a massive campaign would be launched against them. Addressing 55 victims of Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh from his residence here, Shah also said that Maoism will be eradicated by 31 March 2026. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to eradicate Naxal violence and ideology from the country. Shah said, I appeal to the Naxalites to give up violence, lay down arms and surrender as the militants of the Northeast have done. If you do not listen to me, a massive campaign will soon be launched to end this threat.
The Union Home Minister said security forces have achieved significant success in their operations against Maoists and the problem is now confined to just four districts of Chhattisgarh. He said Maoists had once hatched a conspiracy to build a corridor from Pashupatinath (Nepal) to Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) but the Modi government foiled it.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Home Ministry will soon prepare a welfare scheme for the Naxal violence affected people of Chhattisgarh in collaboration with the state government. He said that we will help you in every possible way through welfare measures in jobs, health care and other areas.
