Mapuche conflict: Local lawyer denounced that he received death threats

Lawyer Cristian Pettorosso, who is involved in the Salamida family case, denounced that he received “graphic threats, with drawings of Mapuche symbols announcing death with disfigurement of the face and cutting of the penis, for having invaded ancestral territory.”

Referring to this case, Pettorosso said that “I promptly filed the criminal complaint, noticing the drawings on the right side of my truck, at times this Saturday afternoon, when I was about to put some items in the box of his pick up.” ”.

He said that “I consulted a client of mine, who happens to be a high Mapuche authority who lives in another town, and he told me the meaning of those symbols, which announce violent actions against my physical integrity.”

He explained that “last Friday, starting at approximately 6:30 p.m., I entered the property owned by the Salamida family accompanied by another professional, in order to take different useful evidence for the criminal case in which I intervene as sponsor of the victims. of usurpation; being a land of more than 21 hectares located in the Epulafquen neighborhood of this town”.

Pettorosso said that “I was seen touring the property by different male residents in the vicinity of the mentioned place; at a time when I had left my four-wheel drive truck parked in a central location in Villa La Angostura, and going to the location in the private vehicle of a colleague who accompanied me to collect evidence.”

Consulted after making the police report for threats at the local police station, Pettorosso said “they are cowards who move in the shadows, lacking in manliness to say those things to my face. Likewise, for security reasons, and believing that they are capable of committing any type of public action crimes, I have filed the corresponding criminal complaint and have also requested security measures from different state resources; especially that I have denounced having knowledge through information received from other clients in the framework of other causes in which I intervene, that in the vicinity of the usurped place there are plantations prohibited by the narcotics law”.

Pettorosso requested “that the Federal Prosecutor’s Office also intervene and I requested custody service by security forces for myself and my clients” and said that “if the state does not provide the required security, due to that eventual lack of office, it would be possible to use different legal regulations and administrative authorizations in my capacity as a legitimate user of firearms, holding public authorities responsible for failing to comply with their duty”.
