Leading director Priyadarshan has directed Mohanlal’s “Maraikkayar” which has been made at a huge cost of Rs 100 crore. The film stars Keerthi Suresh, Prabhu, Arjun, Manju Warrier, Ashok Selvan and Suhasini.
The film was shot entirely on a huge set in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The trailer for the film was released last year and was well received. Also on the recently announced National Awards list, Marakayar has amassed national awards in three categories including Best Picture, Best Costume Design and Best Graphics.
Producer Anthony Perumbavoor has said that the film, which has been waiting for release for more than two years, will be released on ODD. In this situation, it has been reported that the popular OTD site Amazon Prime has acquired the publishing rights of wood for Rs 100 crore.
The film will then be released in theaters without being released directly on ODD. The film crew, including Mohanlal, have officially announced this on their Twitter pages. The producers seem to have made this decision because of a compromise in negotiations with the theater owners.
Famous producer Kalaipuli Thanu Bank has released the Tamil language version of the movie while its publishing rights are in full swing.
Actor Mohanlal had said at a press conference that the Rs 100 crore film would fetch a minimum of Rs 105 crore.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the film has made a profit of Rs 100 crore through the pre-registration for the film which was released today.
In this situation, the movie Maraikkar, which has been screened today, is getting mixed reviews among the fans. Fans have been praising Mohanlal as a mass entry after watching the first half. But some have commented that the film is a bit of a struggle.
