Marche Region Declares Orange Weather Alert as Heavy Rainfall Triggers Emergency Meeting

The meeting of the Regional Operational Center (COR) was called by the President of the Marche Region, Francesco Acquaroli, which took place at 2 PM today at the Palazzo Rossini, to assess the situation following the heavy rainfall today that affected several areas of the regional territory and to evaluate the necessary interventions in light of those expected in the coming hours. The meeting was also attended by the Councilor for Civil Protection, Stefano Aguzzi, and the Regional Director of Civil Protection and Territory Security, Stefano Stefoni. During the meeting, the five prefectures of the Marche were connected, along with the Regional Fire Brigade, for a synergistic analysis of the situation.

The weather alert has been extended for the entire day tomorrow, Thursday, September 19. The current alert level is yellow, but it will rise to orange at midnight.

Throughout the duration of the alert, the population is advised to pay attention, especially in the most affected areas, urging residents to move only if absolutely necessary. Municipalities will evaluate the suspension of school activities, and everyone can consult the institutional communication channels of their respective local authorities. The operational offices of the provincial Civil Protection will remain active in the coming hours.

In the last 36 hours, the most intense rainfall has been recorded in the provinces of Ancona, Macerata, and Fermo, with peaks of precipitation along the coast between the Maceratese and Anconetano areas.

Between 6 PM and 8 PM today, a new intensification of rainfall is expected along the coastal strip.

The COR will meet again at 8 PM for further updates on the situation across the entire regional territory, immediately following the meeting of the Crisis Unit of the National Civil Protection Department, already scheduled for 7 PM.
