One afternoon in January I was invited to the screening of ‘Marco’, Moriartis’ new film, at a school in Irun. My work as an extra continues its journey from nothing to the highest levels of depression, as Groucho would say: this time I have a better future as a promising young journalist. This time the directors are Jon Garaño and Aitor Arregi, always creative, always sympathetic.

My ‘role’ is small: being part of the audience, with dozens of other people, at a conference by Marco, the character of the film inspired by, you know, the Catalan who appears as a former prisoner of a prison camp . The Nazi target But there is a passionate afternoon: you see from the front the brilliant work of the actor Eduard Fernández in that role, as if it were a private work. The film has been selected for the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival. Those who saw it said it was a beautiful film, but what I already know is that Fernández is beautiful in his work.

Garaño warned me with his delicate smile that in the final cut I could see “a little less than in ‘Balenciaga’ but a little more than in ‘Handia’.” I feel rewarded for the pleasure of that afternoon of seeing ‘Marco’ close and talking with Eduard, that giant.
