Marcos do Val in an interview with GloboNews
Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) said this Thursday (15) that he told the whole truth in a statement to the Federal Police about a meeting with former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and former deputy Daniel Silveira. The interview with GloboNews took place after the PF search and seizure operation carried out at addresses linked to the parliamentarian.
The senator is suspected of having obstructed investigations by the authorities. Investigators presented posts made by Do Val on social networks as evidence of attempts to sabotage the investigation.
In the interview, Marcos do Val declared that he only told a version to the Federal Police about the episode involving Bolsonaro and Silveira.
“When he included me back there in the report with the argument that I gave several versions, but I gave only one version to the Federal Police and told everyone. The version of the facts and the absolute truth is in the testimony I gave at that time in February,” he explained.
“What is true and matters here is that in the PF statement, which was the official statement, there is the full and absolute truth. So, no other versions were given,” he added.
The PF asked the Federal Supreme Court that the senator be arrested, but Minister Alexandre de Moraes denied the request and only ordered the search and seizure of the residences connected to the congressman.
In the work carried out by the federal police, documents, computers, cell phones and equipment related to the senator were found.
The PF also found conversations between the former Bolsonarist federal deputy and the Podemos senator. The messages show indications that the pair acted together in an attempt to sabotage the investigations about the 8th of January and defined actions to attack the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court.
PF accuses Marcos do Val of fake news propaganda
In an interview with Veja, on February 2, the senator said that he had been “extorted” by the former President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), to participate in a coup plot. According to him, a wiretap would be placed on Moraes to motivate an illegal arrest request to the minister.
Later, the senator stated that the coup plan was designed by former deputy Daniel Silveira and that former president Jair Bolsonaro did not prevent the ally.
In December 2022, Do Val said that he attended a meeting with Bolsonaro and Silveira, where he received a request to record a conversation with Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court. During the meeting, the parliamentarian would lead the magistrate to “say that in some of his processes he went beyond the line of the Constitution”, with the objective of arresting Moraes and preventing the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
