Without revealing any details about the deal – and in a short and succinct statement – the president was pleased to “further strengthen relations between the clubs” and revealed that he had spoken with the president of Benfica, Rui Costa, by phone.
«This late Tuesday afternoon, in Santos, we received Mr. Rui Pedro Braz, Sports Director of SL Benfica, to further strengthen relations between the clubs, I spoke on the phone with Mr. Rui Costa, president of the traditional Portuguese association, who formalized a proposal for striker Marcos Leonardo”, stated the president of Santos. The director’s statement, it should be noted, was issued – later – by the Brazilian club on social media.
Marcos Leonardoremember, has been associated with Benfica in this reopening of the January market and, last season, played a total of 31 matcheshaving scored 13 goals in that period.
