National Electoral Council confirms Maduro’s victory

The demonstration led by the opposition leader took place a day after the Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) once again declared Nicolás Maduro the winner of the electionwith 96.87% counted.

According to the CNE, The current president received 51.95% of the votes, compared to 43.18% for the opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia.

In parallel to the large demonstrations of the Venezuelan opposition in the main cities of the country, Chavismo organized its own events to celebrate the reelection of Nicolás Maduro.
