Police in Madurai have arrested Maridasa, a controversial critic of the Tamil Nadu government, following the death of Commander-in-Chief of the three forces Pipin Rawat in a helicopter crash. The court ordered that Maridas be remanded in custody until December 23 in that case. While the BJP has strongly opposed the arrest of Maridas, he has now been arrested in a second case. It has been reported that this time the Chennai Crime Branch Police have made an arrest in the Maridas Porjari case.
Last year, Maridas uploaded a defamatory video on YouTube about journalists working for a private news channel. Maridas uploaded an email on social media saying that the TV management had accepted his complaint. A complaint was lodged with Maridas on behalf of the private television management alleging that the TV management had released fake documents, denying that we had sent any such response. After filing a case on the complaint, Maridas was summoned and questioned by the Chennai Central Crime Branch police last year. But, no arrests were made. It has been reported that Maridas has been arrested in the case.
According to reports, Maridas’ arrest in the second case was reported to the Uthamapalaiyam jail where he was lodged and the police were informed about the arrest of his brother Mahesh as well. It has been reported that Maridas has been arrested in the next case as the Tamil Nadu BJP is trying to get Maridas out anyway. Therefore. Problems have increased in getting Maridas out.
The BJP, which actively supports Maridas, is in a state of shock as complaints against him have been dusted off during the last AIADMK regime.
