Marie-Christine Saragosse remains at the head of France Médias Monde for a third term

France Médias Monde reiterates its confidence in its president. Marie-Christine Zaragoza has just been renewed on Wednesday for a third term at the head of the public group in charge of audiovisual outside France, announced Arcom, the audiovisual regulator, Wednesday January 11.

In office since 2012, the 62-year-old president was reappointed for five years from April 23.

France Médias Monde brings together the continuous news channel France 24 (in French, English, Arabic and Spanish), radio RFI (in French and fifteen other languages) and the Arabic language radio Monte Carlo Doualiya (MCD).

Focus on “experience”

“In a context marked by a profound transformation of the audiovisual sector, an evolution of the methods of financing public audiovisual [avec la suppression de la redevance] and major geopolitical upheavals, the Autorité has chosen to focus on the experience acquired at the head of the group by Mr.me Marie-Christine Zaragoza »explained the Arcom in a press release.

The outgoing was preferred to four other candidates: Sylvain Attal (ex-deputy director of France 24 in charge of new media), David Hivet (international media specialist), Arnaud Ngatcha (journalist and deputy to the Paris City Hall in charge of international relations ) and Pierre-Etienne Pommier (digital entrepreneur).

His renewal follows by three weeks that of the president of Radio France, Sibyle Veil, for a second term. That of the third boss of public broadcasting, Delphine Ernotte (France Télévisions), renewed in 2020, runs until 2025.
