Mariledy Paulino Dominates 400m Diamond League in Silesia, Claims Fifth Consecutive Victory

World champion and Olympian Mariledy Paulino scored her fifth victory in as many competitions during the 400 meters event of the Diamond League held next Sunday in Silesia, Poland.

The Dominican gazelle stopped the clock at 48.66 seconds to leave behind Salwa Eid Naser, from Bahrain, who had 49.23 and the Polish Natalia Kaczmarek with 49.95.

Rhasidat Adeleke, from Ireland, finished with 5000, Alexis Holmes, from the United States, with 50.01, Henriette Jaeger, from Norway, 50.33, Lieke Klaver, from the Netherlands, with 50.46 and Sada Williams, from Barbados, with 50.82.

World leader Paulino leads the Diamond League standings with 40 points, followed by Kaczmarek, with 34 and Klaver with 23.

The Venezuelan sprinter has comfortably won the previous four races of the current season.

The first was on April 20, in Xiamen, China, where he clocked 50.08. In second and third place were Poland’s Natalia Kaczmarek (50.29) and American Britton Wilson (51.26).

The second stage, which was on April 27, in Suzhou, also in China, won the Dominican with a time of 50.89, beating the American Talitha Diggs (51.77) and the Barbadian Sada Williams (52.00).

In the third stage, in Oslo, Norway, Paulino made a time of 49.30, again beating Kaczmarek (49.80) and North American Alexis Holmes (50.40).

On July 7, in Paris, France, Paulino had set his best time of the season (49.20), beating again Kaczmarek (49.82), and Naser (49.82).

The final of the Diamond League will take place on September 13, in Brussels, Belgium, where the Dominican will try to be champion for the third year in a row.

Mariledy was the 400 meter dash champion for the past two Diamond League seasons (2022 and 2023).

Last season she was crowned for winning the competition with 49.58 seconds and becoming a two-time champion.
