WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES.- In a meeting with international companies from the tourism sector held in Washington, DC, Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda announced the upcoming launch of a flight between the city of Phoenix, Arizona and Tijuana, Baja California, through the American airline American Airlines.

International companies such as Club Med, Hilton, Brand USA, Marriott International and, representing the meetings, conventions and events sector, the company Maritz Global Events, were present at said meeting, which are interested in installing or expanding operations in the State due to to the results that have been obtained in coordination with the Government of Baja California.

The governor gave as an example the expansion of Marriott International, the confirmation of international events for 2024 and the formation of a strategic joint promotion alliance to promote the central binational mega-region of Southern California and Baja California.

Regarding the new American Airlines flight, the governor highlighted the work of the State Secretary of Tourism, headed by Miguel Aguiñiga Rodríguez, for giving historical results to strengthen air connectivity in Baja California, and thanked the airline for trusting the entity as a destination for thousands of travelers.

The new Phoenix-Tijuana flight It will start operating in February 2024 and will connect the Tijuana International Airport “Abelardo L. Rodríguez” with the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, being operated by an Embraer 175 aircraft with capacity for 78 passengers.

The airline expressed its enthusiasm to continue strengthening its operations in Mexican territory, Baja California being a destination that is strengthening in terms of offering the best experience to its visitors, especially in tourist sites whose flow of travelers has grown in recent years.

In this sense, Marina del Pilar expressed that as part of the economic promotion activities carried out in New York, Washington DC, and Arlington, a particular impulse was given to promote tourism in the territory bajacalifornians being an area that offers diverse natural spaces, culture, and a world-renowned gastronomy.
