The Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, was admitted to a hospital in Brasilia on suspicion of malaria. She had a malaise this Monday afternoon (13) and will be observed in the coming days.
Marina Silva must undergo a battery of tests in the next few hours to find out which infection affected the minister. iG tries to contact the hospital to find out about the health status of the minister.
She canceled her appointments for Monday and Tuesday. A press conference with Germany’s Vice Chancellor Roberto Habeck was also cancelled.
At the beginning of the month, Marina went to Roraima to monitor the situation of the Yanomami indigenous people. She also checked the installations of the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) in the state.
The region is in a health emergency due to cases of malaria among the indigenous people. Hundreds of people have fallen victim to the disease, which has caused the death of children in recent years.
