“The fable of Jean-Luc Mélenchon opposing Emmanuel Macron, we will perhaps stop now… It lasted two weeks, it made everyone laugh”she said when she arrived in this RN municipality, in the 11e constituency of Pas-de-Calais, where she has been elected MP since 2017. “He plays the fools of the king, he overplays the insolence with regard to the president”, launched the ex-candidate RN for the presidency. But “the reality is that Jean-Luc Mélenchon had Emmanuel Macron elected”asking her voters not to vote for her, she said. “It absolutely discredits him to be able to put himself in the position of the opponent. »

Mme Le Pen also made fun of the leader of La France Insoumise, who has been trying in recent weeks to lead the rally on the left. “To be able to win a legislative, he would have to agree to run, already. That would be a good start.”she quipped, Mr. Mélenchon having announced that he himself would probably not be a candidate.

A walkabout and a speech focused on “national defense”

The unfortunate candidate for the presidential election took a walk in the city market and multiplied the selfies, before participating in a ceremony on May 8. She said she hoped the RN would come in “in force in the National Assembly” to counter “the social policy that Emmanuel Macron wants to implement”.

“We will also fight against laxity, the one we have seen at work for five years in terms of insecurity, immigration, which is one of the points where the alliance between Mélenchon and Macron is perhaps the most dangerous. »she said, assuring that there will be RN candidates “absolutely everywhere”. The far-right elected official laid a wreath at the cemetery during her visit for the May 8 ceremony, alongside the RN mayor of the town, Steeve Briois.

“After the tragic XXe century, here come, seventy-seven years later, the hideous noises of war in Europe, these images of destruction and desolation at antenna length, the floods of tears and blood before our eyes, the torrent of millions of refugees on our doorstep”she said in her speech. “Peace, which we believe to be immutable and final, is not. (…) The aggression to which Ukraine has been subjected proves to us (…) the need for all countries to guarantee the means of their own national defence.added the one who was accused by her opponents of complacency with Putin’s Russia during the presidential campaign.

Mme Le Pen will notably face in his constituency Marine Tondelier (EELV), opposition municipal councilor in Hénin-Beaumont, invested by the New Popular, Ecological and Social Union (Nupes). She was spokesperson for the environmental candidate Yannick Jadot, who failed just below the 5% mark of the votes cast.
