The Navy Secretariat reported activated the Plan Marina in the states of Baja California Sur, Sonora and Sinaloa, in the face of the passage of the tormenta tropical ‘Ileana’ in those entities.
The Naval Commands of La Paz and Los Cabos, in Baja California Sur, activated the Marine Plan in its Relief Phase; while the Naval Commands of Santa Rosalía, in Baja California Sur; Puerto Peñasco, Sonora and Topolobampo, Sinaloa, activated it in its Prevention Phase, in view of the possible damage that could be caused by the passage of said meteorological phenomenon.

For the above, personnel of the Mexican Navy through these Naval Commands and
of the Naval Civil Protection Unit, is prepared with vehicles, ships, boats, canine teams, specialized equipment and aircraft, to support the civilian population if required.
In turn, the Fourth Naval Region based in La Paz, Baja California Sur, maintains a temporary shelter in operation at the Gral. José María Garma González Secondary School, located on Alfredo V. Bonfil Street, S/N in the Ejido “El Centenario”, for the protection of citizens from possible effects of tropical storm ‘Ileana’, in order to provide security and assistance to those who are in vulnerable situations.
The shelter has a multidisciplinary team made up of personnel from the Navy, who are in charge of the care and safety of citizens, as well as medical personnel who are in charge of evaluating their health status, implementing special care measures for the elderly, pregnant women and people with different abilities, thus guaranteeing comprehensive care.

The Navy, through the Mexican Navy, reiterates its commitment to the citizens to ensure their safety, providing human and material resources for this purpose, through the implementation of the Navy Plan; therefore, it will continue working to support Mexican families.
