The head of the ecologists, Marine Tondelier, and Lucie Castets, candidate in Matignon for the New Popular Front (NFP) last summer, have called on Saturday 30 November for a “joint application” of the left in the next presidential elections, in the aftermath of a speech on the same topic by Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
“Now we must organize ourselves to obtain a majority in Parliament and win the next presidential elections”say the two signatories of the a column published online on the newspaper’s website Western France.
“We believe that every victory is a team story and that urgency requires us to be able to unite around our convergences”they point out. They announce the creation of the site “gagnons-ensemble.fr”, which should serve as a site “framework for reflection and common action, to win the cultural battle against the right and the far right”.
The two signatories pose as a prerequisite what they present: “hope for a joint candidacy for the next presidential elections, without placing this or that name as a prerequisite for collective work”.
“Federation offer”
This stance by Marine Tondelier and Lucie Castet comes in the aftermath of a statement by Jean-Luc Mélenchon which did not go unnoticed as it resembles an offer of services. The leader of the radical left proposed on Friday that those who want to join La France insoumise (LFI) wear a “joint application” based on his program in the event of early presidential elections.
“We are in favor of a joint candidacy. We said it ten times, based on the program. And since we continue with the program, well, whoever wants to come, they’re welcome”launched the leader of the LFI who wants the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron, and therefore hopes to organize early presidential elections.
the leader, already a three-time presidential candidate, proposed a “federal offer” ha “those who want” join LFI at “present a joint candidacy for the presidential elections”. He excluded the Communist Party from his approach and “the right of the socialist party” car “we refuse to make our way with people who insult us along the way”.
