Doha ഡി Dimdex concludes 7th Doha International Maritime Exhibition and Conference, showcasing the strength of the maritime and defense sectors.

The exhibition at the Qatar National Convention Center showcased state-of-the-art warplanes, ships, radars, robotic systems, missiles, tankers, surveillance systems and advanced systems used on warships from various countries.

The United States had the largest presence at the show with 15 companies. Leonardo’s, an Italian – based global aerospace defense company, also showcased their latest technologies. Qatar has been using Leonardo’s technology for the past 25 years in the areas of air traffic control and air safety.

The design of the new F142 warship of the Durson Shipyard in Turkey has also been released. The compact USV, an anti-submarine warfare variant of the Sapphire Shipyard, was also on display.

To the new days of cooperation

The Qatari Ministry of Defense has also signed new agreements with various maritime and defense companies. A letter of intent with Burson Holdings and BAE System to establish a technical and logistics service center at Umm al-Hawl Naval Base, a memorandum of understanding with Honeywell for the purchase of F-15 fighter jet equipment, and an agreement with Essel for Qatari armored vehicle towers.

Qatar University and Turkish Aerospace Industries have signed an agreement for the academic development of the aviation and aerospace sectors. The Amiri Navy has signed an agreement with Leonardo to develop a new Naval Operations Center for the Amiri Navy to coordinate maritime operations.

The Center aims to monitor and regulate the Qatar Sea, the Exclusive Economic Zone and the surrounding areas, as well as to strengthen cooperation with all national agencies related to maritime security.
