14-year-old Darina Naneva from Skutare, who won the European Under-18 Women’s Championship with the national volleyball team, to be awarded by the municipality of “Maritsa”. Mayor Dimitar Ivanov will make such a proposal at the session of the municipal council, which will be held on August 27. The young champion was named the best central blocker of the championship, which the Bulgarian team won after a 3:0 game against Belgium, announced the municipality of “Maritsa”.
Darina Naneva became the top scorer in the final with 14 points. He also scored the winning point in the match. “I am proud of you that we have young people who glorify the name of both Bulgaria and our municipality “Maritsa”. I am sincerely happy for you that as young athletes, you have achieved much more than us who have republican titles. This shows that the municipality has a future and continues to produce talents. We have done a lot in these years – halls and sports grounds where you – the young residents of “Maritsa” can play and train, because you are the future of our municipality. I wish you the best to be healthy, to have no injuries, and you have the talent”, Dimitar Ivanov congratulated the young volleyball player.
She informed the mayor that from the new season she will play in the Serbian Volleyball League in the team of “Edinstvo” (Stara Pazova). After the European title, the girl received offers from many teams, including Italian and French, but the conditions of the Serbian team were the best. “As a culture, we are close, the languages are similar, and I will acclimatize to the team better. I will be a starter, unlike in Italy or France. It is much better for my development, because in Maritza, I learned what I needed. I’ve won a lot of titles, and now I’m going there to develop. I’ve been on the field at “Maritsa” since the second grade, said Darina. She hopes to continue winning titles with the national team, and Dimitar Ivanov wished her to one day become the captain of the women’s team of Bulgaria and bring European and world titles. The girl thanked and stated that she will not be able to come to the session where she will be awarded, because she has to go to Serbia and participate in the preparations of “Edinstvo”.
Darina is the daughter of the famous basketball players Radostina Slavova-Naneva and Ilko Nanev, who won prestigious titles for their teams. The mother is a basketball coach for children from the first to the fourth grade, whose training takes place in the gymnasium of the “Dr. Peter Beron” school, and her father is engaged in a private business.
