Musa Mirzoyev, known for his own handwriting in the formation of modern Azerbaijani music, has great merit. As Day.Az reports, today marks the 91st anniversary of the birth of the famous composer, people’s artist, professor Musa Mirzoyev.

Musa Mirzoyev was born on January 26, 1933 in Baku. After graduating from school in 1947-1951, he studied at the Baku Music College named after Asef Zeynalli, in 1952-1958 he received a higher musical education at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory in the class of world music luminary Kara Garayev, specializing in composition.

Having started his career in 1958 as an accompanist of the youth choir at the Azerbaijan State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, Musa Mirzoyev worked here until 1978, and in 1978-1979 he served as artistic director of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic. In the subsequent period, Musa Mirzoev, who was engaged only in creativity and created musical works, in 1992-1993 worked in various positions at the Shur music publishing house. Successfully combining creativity with teaching, from 1993 until the end of his life he worked at the Baku Music Academy named after. Uzeyir Hajibeyli and contributed to the formation of a new generation of professional musicians.

The works of Musa Mirzoev, successfully performed by famous musical groups, earned the author fame both in the republic and abroad. The composer’s original concerts were popular among connoisseurs of musical art. Musa Mirzoev put a lot of work into revising and preparing scores of many works for performance by a symphony orchestra. His articles on Azerbaijani and world music influenced the formation of the aesthetic taste of the younger generation.

The composer is the author of the monumental First Symphony, “Festive Poem”, “Festival Capriccio”, “Youth Album” for piano, many symphonies, and a number of popular songs. But, in addition to his own creativity, Musa Mirzoyev devoted a lot of time to returning the works of other outstanding composers to the Azerbaijani people.

Musa Mirzoev died on January 29, 2016.
