INTRODUCTION – South American monkeys have the ability to modify their calls to identify the individual they are talking to. A behavior that is not yet known in any other primate.

With their very small size, a body of about fifteen centimeters, it is difficult to imagine that marmosets have the ability of cognitive functions that are unknown to this day among the great apes (chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans). A group of researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem explained in the review Knowledge of these small South American primates are capable of identifying each other with vocalizations specific to each individual.
