At least three people from Hezbollah started shooting at us with machine guns and a pistol. My father fell to the floor, but the shooting continued, and we couldn’t reach him.” He emphasized the need for an immediate end to the violence.
The Lebanese army promptly intervened, preventing further bloodshed and securing the area. The contents of the truck were subsequently brought to a nearby military base, and traffic on the affected road was reopened. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called for calm, assuring the public that an official investigation had been initiated in response to the deaths. Amidst the rising tensions, lawmakers from the Lebanese Forces party, a Christian political group opposed to Hezbollah, accused the terrorist organization of transporting weapons.
