Marrakech: 768 projects planned within the framework of the INDH between 2019 and 2022

These human development projects have mobilized a total investment of 302.98 million DH, according to data presented during a ceremony organized on Thursday in Marrakech, on the occasion of the celebration of the 18th anniversary of the INDH, in the presence of the wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, governor of the Marrakech prefecture, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, local elected officials, associative and institutional partners of the Initiative, civil society actors, heads of external services and other personalities.

This meeting was an opportunity to highlight the major achievements and gains made in the framework of phase III of the Initiative, as demonstrated by the various projects initiated within the framework of the four programs of the 3rd phase of the INDH, which have largely contributed to improving human development indicators in this part of the national territory.

Since the launch of this major Royal project in 2005, its programs have aimed to strengthen the capacities of the targeted groups and stimulate the creation of wealth, through the strengthening of skills and the development of activities that make use of their knowledge and adapt to regional and local specificities, Mr. Kassi-Lahlou stressed in a speech for the occasion.

In this sense, he noted that phase III of the INDH, launched by HM King Mohammed VI in 2018, is based on a new approach based on the consolidation of the achievements of the two previous phases and the reorientation of programs to ensure the boosting of the human capital of rising generations, support groups in precarious situations, and adopt a new generation of income-generating and job-creating initiatives.

“Thanks to the tireless efforts of all partners, including elected officials, external services and civil society actors, the assessment of phase III (2019-2023), which is coming to an end, was marked at the level of the prefecture of Marrakech, by brilliant and encouraging results which had a positive impact on the targeted groups, the development projects carried out having contributed to the strengthening of infrastructure and basic services, the reduction of social disparities and the improvement of human development indicators”, welcomed Mr. Kassi-Lahlou.

And to call on all stakeholders and partners of the INDH to make further efforts to ensure the sustainability of the achievements and to carry out new quality projects that are in line with the New Development Model, through the mobilization of resources and energies around a vision of a bright future, in accordance with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Subsequently, the Head of the Social Action Division (DAS) in the wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region, Mr. Anouar Tlemçani Dbira, presented a comprehensive presentation on the assessment of the projects and achievements accomplished within the framework of the four programs of Phase III of the INDH at the level of the prefecture of Marrakech.

In this context, Mr. Dbira noted that 13 projects for a total cost of 17.53 million DH were carried out between 2019 and 2022, within the framework of program 1 “Catching up on deficits in basic infrastructure and social services in under-equipped territories”, which aims to reduce the social and territorial inequalities that still exist, particularly in three priority sectors, namely health (9 projects), education (1 project) and tracks and roads (3 projects).

As part of program 2 “Support for people in precarious situations”, 127 projects/operations were programmed for a total investment of 56.89 million DH, including a contribution from the INDH of 53.39 million DH, and a completion rate of 83%, he specified, noting that these projects/operations concerned the acquisition of ambulances and medical units (20 projects), the construction and equipment of reception centers (3 projects), the maintenance of reception centers (59 projects) and the operation of reception centers (36 operations).

Within the framework of program 3: “Improving income and economic inclusion of young people”, 371 projects were programmed, for a budget of 106.61 million DH, including a contribution from the INDH of 64.93 million DH, and an implementation rate of 85%, he noted, noting that 1,971 people benefited from these projects, including 547 women, who created projects in various fields, including services, crafts, industry, ICT and agriculture.

Mr. Dbira also noted that within the framework of program 4 “Impulse of the human capital of rising generations”, which took up 40% of the overall budget, 257 projects/operations were created, for a total cost of 121.95 million DH, including a contribution from the INDH of 118.08 million DH, and a completion rate of 91%, adding that these projects/operations focused on the three axes of this program, namely “maternal and child health” (10 projects), “the generalization of preschool in rural areas” (165 projects) and “support for the schooling and development of young people” (82 projects).

This meeting was marked by the screening of a series of video clips highlighting the successful projects of the INDH at the level of the prefecture of Marrakech, with the key testimonies given by a number of beneficiaries of these projects intended to contribute to the improvement of the social conditions of the beneficiaries and the promotion of sustainable human development.

Then, eight partnership agreements were signed relating to business creation projects for young people, within the framework of the “Support for entrepreneurship” axis of Program 3 of the INDH entitled “Improving income and economic inclusion of young people” (ARIEJ).

On the sidelines of this meeting, three school transport vehicles and a mobile medical unit were handed over to the beneficiaries.
