Initiated by the “Moukite Foundation for Sciences and Culture”, this meeting aims to highlight the biography and important legacy of this great scholar, his valuable scientific and intellectual contributions in several fields, as well as the cultural dynamism that marked the Moroccan intellectual movement during the first half of the 20th Century.
Speaking on this occasion, the president of the Moukite Foundation for Science and Culture, Abdel Mountakim Moukite, indicated that the research and studies presented during this conference will certainly highlight the legacy of this scholar in several fields. touching on fiqh, literature, geography, astronomy, the history of the saints and many other social subjects.
He expressed his wish to see this conference mark the beginning of a series of meetings that the Foundation will organize as a contribution to the valorization and highlighting of the intellectual, literary and cultural heritage of Marrakech and other historic cities. of the Kingdom, insisting on the need to grant particular interest to the preservation of this legacy of the great figures of Moroccan culture.
For his part, the dean of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, Abdeljalil Karifa, noted that this conference comes a few days after the official kickoff of the event “Marrakech, capital of culture in the Islamic world” for the year 2024, adding that this meeting offers the opportunity to highlight the legacy of one of the great intellectual figures of the Ocher City.
This conference also constitutes the first episode on the path to the establishment of a collaboration and a fruitful partnership between the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences and the “Moukite Foundation for Sciences and Culture in order to revive the heritage of Marrakech , in general, and the legacy of the scholar Ibn Moukite, in particular.
For their part, the other speakers highlighted the immeasurable contribution of this great scholar to the defense of authentic Moroccan identity, calling for greater emphasis on the reformist thought of this scholar.
This conference covers several themes, including “The biography of Mohamed Ibn Moukite”, “Overview of reformist thought in Morocco during the protectorate, Mohamed Ibn Moukite as a subject of study” and “Regards on the social criticism of Ibn Moukite” .
