Marrakech: Holding of the 2nd National Congress of Lawyers Affiliated to the USFP

Eighteen bars from the Kingdom, several ‍barristers, representatives⁣ from other sectors, and professional executives are taking‌ part in a two-day conclave. The event aims to shed light on​ political and legal issues, the roles of lawyers, and ​their social status.

Opening the Congress, the party’s first secretary,⁢ Driss Lachgar,​ advocated for ‌a mature reflection on‌ the advancement of the legal profession to meet future cross-border challenges, particularly those related to the outsourcing⁣ of services. He emphasized the need for technological advancements in office management, remote litigation, and language skills.

Lachgar further called for adherence ⁣to⁢ the principle of gender parity as ​enshrined in Article​ 19 of the Constitution, and for the inclusion of women‌ lawyers in professional bodies in a proportionate manner.

He also expressed the party’s support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for pragmatic and realistic ‍solutions ​that could lead to the creation of an​ independent Palestinian state with East Al Quds as its capital.

The president of the ‍bar, Allal El Basraoui, highlighted the ​multifaceted roles of lawyers in society, emphasizing their contributions to the construction of a democratic state based on the rule of law and independent⁤ justice.

The Congress agenda includes presentations focusing on ​the professional status of lawyers, their social conditions, and their political and legal roles.
