Marrakech: INDH at the bedside of autistic children from deprived backgrounds

by times news cr

Thanks to its innovative and renewed approach, focused on tangible results, its philosophy and its genesis, the INDH has not skimped on resources at the national level as well as at the level of the prefecture of Marrakech, with the sole objective of helping children suffering from disabilities and autism through the establishment, deeply thought out and according to a local approach, at the level of certain districts of the ocher city, of structures dedicated to this social category.

The creation of this type of project, thanks to the significant role of the Initiative and within the framework of constructive partnerships, is not done randomly, but emanates eloquently from an in-depth analysis of the situation on the ground, as well as the expectations and aspirations of the populations, which gives the actions carried out by this type of structure all the expected success, as demonstrated by the significant number of children suffering from autism who do not hesitate to turn to these Centers to benefit from the various services they offer.

The aim is to alleviate the suffering of these children, to improve their state of health, to better help and support them to overcome their handicap and, above all, to support them so that they can lead a normal life and integrate easily into society.

One of the eloquent examples that came to fruition thanks to the considerable contribution of the INDH is the project to develop and equip two school classes integrated into the Imam Razi school in the “Hay Mohammadi” district. A project included in the framework of program 2 “Support for people in precarious situations” of phase 3 of the Initiative.

Led by the Association of Autism Ambassadors, this project involves the construction and equipment of two classrooms dedicated to special education, a kitchenette, sanitary blocks, a psychomotor qualification area for autistic children, as well as administrative outbuildings. This Center, it should be remembered, is intended for children suffering from disabilities and those with autism.

Having required the mobilization of a total budget envelope of 651,537 DH provided by the Initiative, including 351,537 DH (financing of developments) and 300,000 DH for financing equipment, this project is the fruit of an edifying partnership with the Regional Directorate of Education (Monitoring), the provincial directorate of education, preschool and sport (provision of 2 classrooms, supervision and support, and support for the activities of the Association leading the project), and the association Les ambassadeurs de l’autisme (acquisition of equipment and operation).

Speaking to M24, the MAP continuous news television channel, Najiba El Khetari, president of the association Les Ambassadeurs de l’autisme, said that this association, created in 2017, aims to contribute to the social integration of these children by offering them paramedical services, praising, in passing, the important role that the INDH was able to play so that this Center could see the light of day and be equipped with the latest equipment in this area.

Currently, all the children enrolled in this structure benefit from speech therapy and psychomotor therapy sessions, in addition to sports, she explained, expressing her thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the tireless efforts made by the Sovereign in favor of better care, and training, monitoring and support for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those suffering from disabilities.

Mother of an autistic child, El Khetari did not fail to point out that her association also works to raise awareness and consciousness among families of autistic children through training in this area, deploring, moreover, the complexity of certain cases of autism received by the Center.

“Our structure currently benefits some 25 autistic children, and has 7 managers specialized in special education, a speech therapist, a psychomotor specialist, and a psychologist, in addition to administrative managers. The Center also calls on interns,” she continued, estimating that “without the remarkable contribution of the Initiative, these encouraging results will never be achieved.”
