Marrakech: INDH supports young entrepreneurs in the field of wooden furniture production

by times news cr

The WOODOLOGY project is a clear example of the INDH’s constant commitment to strengthening the employability of young people, supporting entrepreneurship and developing a new generation of projects likely to enhance local potential through a new approach to creating added value through concerted action that targets the project, the project leader and the environment.

Requiring a total investment of 300,000 DH, including 180,000 DH as a contribution from the Initiative (60%), the project involves the creation of a craft workshop specializing in the design, creation and production of custom-made wooden and resin furniture and decorations, as well as the restoration of antique furniture.

Built on an area of 300 m2 in the douar Ait Messoud in the rural commune of Harbil (prefecture of Marrakech), this unit employs four craftsmen who work to shape sustainable materials to design quality interior furniture that will last for years and can be passed on to future generations.

“In addition to its invaluable technical and managerial support, the INDH provided me with the financial support that allowed me to acquire the equipment and tools for cutting and molding raw materials, as well as manufacturing wooden furniture and decorations,” stressed Mr. Driss Nemmaoui, founder of WOODOLOGY, in a statement to MAP and its news channel (M24).

Indicating that his company designs a varied range of products (chairs, coffee tables, dining tables, TV stands, decorative resin objects, etc.) for individuals and professionals (furniture boxes, hotels, restaurants/cafes, interior designers, etc.), the young entrepreneur said he was optimistic about his company’s prospects given the low supply compared to an increasingly strong demand for eco-responsible products.

“Operational for less than a year, we have already managed to gain market share by working permanently to improve the perception of our brand, our products and our services by the consumer public,” he noted, adding that “the company has already implemented an offline communication strategy (fairs, exhibitions, brochures, etc.) and online (social networks, e-mailing, advertising campaigns, etc.) to attract the attention of new customers and make our products better known.”

Entitled “Income improvement and economic inclusion of young people”, INDH program 3 aims to provide support to project leaders in order to promote the economic inclusion of young people and women, by offering them employment and self-employment opportunities.

During the current year, a budget envelope estimated at 30.7 million dirhams was devoted to financing projects selected within the framework of this program at the level of the prefecture of Marrakech.

The contribution of the INDH to the financing of these projects amounts to 18.5 million dirhams, or almost 60% of the overall cost, while the young project leaders contributed 12.2 million DH, according to data from the Social Action Division (DAS) of the prefecture of Marrakech.

The intervention of the Initiative during this period will allow the implementation of 134 projects, which relate to productive and service sectors, capable of contributing to creating more jobs and generating more added value at the local level, through the encouragement of the creation of very small and medium-sized enterprises (VSEs) and the improvement of the transversal skills of young people.
