The speakers at this meeting, held on the theme “Innovation networks, key to prosperity”, thus affirmed that innovation networks constitute a catalyst promoting the creation of synergies between the different actors, capable of encouraging entrepreneurship and simplifying business creation procedures.

It is also a tool for accelerating investments in the territories, they estimated, highlighting the role of platforms and entrepreneurial incubators as a means of development and support in the creation of new businesses.

According to Chaibia Balbzioui Alaoui, vice-president of the Commission for Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), CEO of BCSS industrie, innovation is the cornerstone of the prosperity of economies.

Indeed, the development of innovation networks in ecosystems allows companies to benefit from networks rich in resources and opportunities for collaboration, thus promoting a culture of creativity and continuous improvement, she said.

In this sense, she welcomed the important steps taken brilliantly by Morocco for the establishment of innovation networks, placing particular emphasis on the role played by the CGEM for the creation and promotion of these platforms.

In this regard, she cited the launch of “Intilaq by CGEM”, a digital platform intended for project leaders, start-ups, VSEs and SMEs looking for useful information, pragmatic training and support, in addition to the “CE3M” project, a center of excellence in entrepreneurship and consulting and “Technopark”, an initiative aimed at creating synergies between public and private initiatives and coordinating actions in favor of start-ups and VSEs.

For his part, Mohamed Farid, from the Senate of Egypt, presented a case study on the registration of intellectual property in his country, considering that this meeting, bringing together participants from all over the world, is an enriching experience likely to strengthen economic and cultural ties between nations.

Mr. Farid also highlighted the role of intellectual property in innovation, explaining that it is a tool that is clearly downstream of innovation.

Intellectual property, he said, is at the service of innovation and the competitiveness of the company, highlighting, in this sense, the role of patents and utility models to protect inventions.

Also participating in this session were Alberto Mina, Director of External Relations, Arexpo, Gianfranco Vento, Professor and Manager of Banking and Financial Institutions and Patrizio Bianchi, President of the Italian UNESCO Chair.

Initiated by the Chamber of Advisors and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (APM), under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Region (11 and 12 July) represents an ideal opportunity for parliamentarians and founding partners of the APM to interact with political and economic actors from the public and private sectors, as well as with academia and civil society.
