In Marrakech, several hundred faithful, including students from Koranic schools, went on foot to the Moussala Sidi Amara to implore the Almighty to spread His beneficial rains on the earth as a sign of mercy for His creatures.

Upon their arrival at the moussala, the faithful performed the rogatory prayer in an atmosphere marked by piety and meditation to ask for rain and the mercy of the Most High.

In his sermon, the Imam emphasized the importance of asking Allah for forgiveness during trials to alleviate worries, ease difficulties, and benefit from God’s clemency and mercy.

The Imam also called on the faithful to abide by the precepts of Islam, stressing the need to promote virtue, prevent vice and practice the values of Islam that advocate goodness and fulfillment of duties towards the Almighty.

In Essaouira, and like other cities in the region and the Kingdom, the faithful, all age groups combined, flocked to Moulay El Hassan Square in the old medina, the beating heart of the city, to perpetuate this old tradition, a last resort when rainfall is scarce.

In a climate of meditation, the faithful headed, in an official procession, towards the Mohammed VI Square to perform their prayer, while raising the usual rogatory prayers in such circumstances, and imploring the Almighty to spread his blessings, his mercy and his rains throughout the national territory.

In a sermon on this occasion, the president of the local council of ulama of Essaouira, Mohamed Menguit, dwelt on the profound meaning of this invocation and this blessed Sunnah, stressing that the act of repentance and asking forgiveness from the Almighty is the prelude for the implorations of his faithful to be answered.

The same is true for Chichaoua, where the faithful gathered to implore the All to water His worshipers and His beasts, to spread His mercy and to restore life to the dead land.

In a statement to MAP, the president of the local Council of Ulemas of the province of Chichoua, Abdelhak El Azhari indicated that in this context marked by drought, HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, may God glorify Him, decided that rogatory prayers be performed throughout the national territory, adding that this is a tradition of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, peace and blessings be upon him, followed by Moroccans whenever rainfall is scarce.

He also implored the Almighty to protect the Kingdom from all misfortune and to preserve His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and to fulfill the Sovereign in the person of HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and all the members of the illustrious Royal family.

In Benguerir, the faithful performed the rogatory prayer, in the presence of the governor of the province of Rehamna, Aziz Bouignane and citizens of all ages. The faithful who gathered at the Al Mouhsinine Mosque Square implored the Almighty to spread beneficial rains on earth in mercy for his creatures.

The same climate of piety, spirituality and devotion was observed at the level of El Kelaa des Sraghna, Youssoufia, Tahanaout and Safi where the faithful, all ages, invested the different mosques and moussalas to implore the Almighty to spread His beneficial rains on the earth as a sign of mercy for His creatures.

The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs announced on Thursday that on the orders of HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, rogatory prayers (salat al-istisqa) will be performed on Friday in prayer areas (mousallas) and large mosques throughout all regions and provinces of the Kingdom.
