Organized by the magazine “Femmes du Maroc”, this event aims to be a celebration of Moroccan heritage and the Caftan, an emblematic traditional garment.
During the Caftan 2024 fashion show, the highlight of the week, 16 Moroccan designers presented their innovative creations, marking the strong comeback of the “Caftan” event, launched in 1996 as the first Moroccan event dedicated to the celebration of the Caftan on the national and international scene, after a temporary suspension due to the global health crisis.
The evening was imbued with an electric and captivating atmosphere, where shimmering colors and sumptuous fabrics captivated the spectators who came in large numbers to attend this emblematic event of Moroccan fashion.
The creations presented on the catwalk celebrated the heritage of the Caftan while bringing a touch of modernity and innovation, testifying to the talent and creativity of Moroccan designers.
Each piece was a unique work of art, showcasing traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and ancestral techniques of embroidery, sewing and textile work. Traditional patterns and sophisticated ornaments were enhanced by contemporary cuts and refined details, offering a modern interpretation of the Caftan while preserving its authentic essence.
Ichraq Moubsit, director of the magazine “Femmes du Maroc”, told MAP that “this edition is back in force as part of Caftan Week, which began last Thursday, with a program rich in activities, aimed at highlighting all the cultural, historical and artistic dimensions of the Caftan industry.
This is, she said, to promote traditional Moroccan industry and highlight the skills of traditional artisans who are at the origin of the success and development of the Moroccan Caftan.
And to emphasize that “this edition is also distinguished by “Master Class” sessions and other activities that will allow participants to discover a rich experience with multiple facets.
Sixteen Moroccan designers participated in this edition, all inspired by this year’s theme “Morocco Land of the Caftan”, drawn from the depth of Moroccan history and culture, with the aim of preserving this authentic traditional garment passed down through the generations.
The activities of this 24th edition of the event, which continues until May 12, include, in addition to the Caftan parade, an exhibition dedicated to the Caftan, an exhibition of traditional crafts related to this traditional garment, as well as a “Master Class” intended for students of fashion and design institutes.
Since 1996, the magazine “Femmes du Maroc” has organized this event dedicated to the Caftan, offering a distinguished platform to designers and becoming an unmissable annual event for fashion lovers. “Caftan Week” has become a prestigious platform for Moroccan fashion, aiming to enrich and promote this heritage while preserving its essence.
