Initiated in cooperation with the Regional Directorate of Culture of Marrakech-Safi, the Local Council of Oulémas of Marrakech and the Toubkal Academy of Social Research, this meeting closes a series of activities organized by the HCAR in celebration of this historic event marking the epic of the struggle to recover freedom and independence, national sovereignty and complete the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
The presentation of the Independence Manifesto, which triggered the phase of public demand for independence, reflects the perfect symbiosis between the Alawite Throne and the Moroccan people for the defense of the sacred constants of the nation, its unity and its territorial integrity, stressed the Regional Delegate of the HCAR, Mr. Kamal Aouanet, in a speech at the opening of this meeting.
“This historic event that we celebrate every year, in tribute to the women and men of the national movement, the resistance and the Liberation Army, and in recognition of their enormous sacrifices in favor of the recovery of independence, is also an opportunity to consecrate the values of patriotism and citizenship, and to consolidate the feeling of national belonging among the rising generations,” he noted.
Mr. Aouanet also indicated that the celebration of this flagship event in the history of the national resistance offers the opportunity for the family of the national movement, the resistance and the Liberation Army to reiterate its constant mobilization behind HM King Mohammed VI to defend the national cause and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
The other speakers highlighted the symbolic meanings of this flagship event, the celebration of which links the present to the past and the future, and offers the opportunity to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Nation who sacrificed themselves to free the homeland from the yoke of colonialism and preserve the dignity and pride of the Moroccan people.
They also stressed that the celebration of this pivotal moment in the struggle for freedom and the recovery of independence offers the rising generations the opportunity to meditate on the teachings and sacrifices made by the Alawite Throne and the people, for the recovery of independence.
The activities programmed by the HCAR Regional Delegation, the provincial delegations and the spaces of historical memory of the resistance and liberation in celebration of the 79th anniversary of the presentation of the Manifesto of Independence include conferences, round tables, guided tours for students and pupils of schools at the Space of historical memory of the resistance and liberation in Marrakech as well as the screening of documentary films, highlighting the history of the national resistance.
